After Life season 2: Ricky Gervais already in fits of giggles

Ricky Gervais is back in business and has donned Tony’s brown leather jacket once again to mope around North London in After Life.

However, it seems that following the struggle to cope with the death of his wife Lisa (Kerry Godliman), Tony has finally found the people who care for him worth living for.

New shots from the set confirm the return of fan favourites The Postman (Joe Wilkinson) and sex worker Roxy (Roisin Conarty), as they grow closer to the reclusive newspaper worker.

While the script and plot for the series are currently under wraps, the show will follow on from Tony after he decided to embrace life more following the events of season one.

Despite the Postman being possibly the nosiest member of the Royal Mail in history, it seems that he’s at least still got his job in tact and on much better terms with Tony following the bottle of whisky he got at the end of last season.

Meanwhile Roxy is still keeping an eye out for the formerly suicidal Tony, after they bonded over the loss of their heroin addict friend.

After Life has been widely praised across the world for its heartwarming and heartbreaking premise, which followed Tony giving up on life after wife Lisa died of cancer.

Even Ricky admitted he was blown away by the reaction the comedy received.

Calls for season two were almost immediate, with Ricky admitting before the show was even released he had an idea in mind for the next batch of episodes.

‘Now I’ve thought about it, and I really would like to do a second series because I fell in love with the characters and I’ve got an idea of where it can go,’ he told Metro.co.uk.

‘The second series is always better. Usually because you know the actors.

‘There’s a little clue at the end of series one when he says, I’m just going to use my superpower for good. He can still be an asshole, and just enjoy it more.’

It was declared Best Comedy at this year’s TV Choice Awards.

Ever since the show was renewed, Netflix has been teasing what could happen on its return, with a blooper reel proving it’s all fun and games on the set.

On the new shoot, Ricky was seen sharing a giggle with Joe, who was sitting on a park bench in between shots.

In a photo you can pretty much hear have his trademark laugh, Ricky was seen in hysterics at something the 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown star had said.

The new series is due to drop onto Netflix in 2020.
